We carry over 200 styles of running
shoes, trainers, road racing and track included, but we’ve decided to share with
you some product description on key new shoes. Stay tuned, because we will constantly
be updating these evaluations.
Winter
Trainers:
Adidas Adizero XT
$79.99
10 oz.
Aggressive
Trail Response influenced outsole, great looking upper with gusseted tongue, and
a traditional Adidas narrow fit to negotiate through tight trails. Non posted
midsole.
Adidas Trediac
GTX
$84.99
11 oz.
Gore-Tex upper, award winning Trail Response styled outsole. Excellent value in
a truly waterproof winter trainer. Non posted midsole.
Adidas
Response XIV
$79.99
12 oz.
An iconic design that has been
responsible for bringing attention to the needs of trail running. We remember
the very first version (Marty says he still has a pair) and there have been some
versions better than others. This one is very well thought out, fits right, priced
right and a certain running publication granted it with a Best Buy.
Non posted, but probably okay for the mild overpronator.
Brooks
Adrenaline ASR
$94.99
11.5 oz.
ASR
for All-Season-Running. Windproof, water resistant upper, very aggressive non
slip outsole for trail or road work. Adrenaline remains as one of the best fitting,
highest quality stability shoes. The ASR gives you an additional option to the
mesh road model.
Nike
Air Structure Triax X + GTX
$109.99
12.0 oz.
Nike
Plus compatible, much thought went into the outsole pattern to create a smooth
transition from heel to stance phase to toe off. The new Structure Triax has midsole
shape and components making it one of the best of the current stability shoes.
Insole is firm and has a metatarsal pad placed behind ball of foot.
Nike Air
Pegasus + Clima-Fit
$94.99
10 0z.
The
new Air Pegasus has gone to a 2 part air unit instead of one continuous unit making
it better cushioned and Plus compatible. Outsole design makes the Pegasus more
stable than previous editions and the blunt shape of the toebox has made the fit
much more versatile than the old stereotypical narrow Nike fit. Clima Fit is a
perfect material for breath-ability, windproof, and water resistant.
Nike Air Pegasus Trail +
$84.99
12 oz.
All
the virtues of the latest Air Pegasus but with a ballistic mesh upper and a medial
post for pronation control. Seems like a stability post is out of place for a
Pegasus model, but it is there.
Pearl
Izumi Syncro Seek GTX
$124.99
14oz.
Seamless
upper, Syncroframe midsole technology, Gore Tex upper creates a versatile trail
shoe suitable for not just trail running, but also suitable for trail walking,
winter road running, or light hiking. The PI is stiffer and heavier than others,
but it has its place.
Hi-Lites:
Asics
Kinsei II
$179.99
14 oz.
We
are proud to carry the new Kinsei, the most sophisticated running shoe on the
market. We waited on the sidelines while Asics launched the original Kinsei one
year ago to allow the public to decide if the Kinsei was for real or just a lot
of hype. The shoe was an unprecedented success and has raised the bar for the
entire industry. The new Kinsei has a more refined midsole truss system
for a blend of stability and cushion encompassing more than rear foot control,
but complete guidance of the running gait. We will be test wearing the Kinsei
II soon to give you a more in depth report on this truly unique shoe.
Asics
GT-2130
$94.99
12 oz.
We
are one of the very first stores in the country to get the new GT-2130. Asics
tweaked the 2130 slightly making a softer riding shoe than the 2120 through a
new SoLyte compound, a new configuration of the GEL heel unit and P-GEL in the
forefoot. Asics has succeeded in making one of the most consistent high quality
and reliable stability trainers on the market.
Nike
Air Zoom Equalon II +
$129.99
12 oz.
The
new Equalon is representative of where Nike is heading for 2008. Great looks,
Nike Plus compatible and stitch-for-stitch, the new Bowerman shoes are as good,
and in some cases better than the competition. Nike is finally taking running
seriously instead of stuffing over-engineered idiotic Shox product down everyones
throat. Details such as the curvature of the last on this version compared to
the previous edition have made the Equalon II a stability trainer worthy of consideration
against established greats such as the Kayano, Trance, Hurricane among others.
We tested the stability of the Equalon on Luke (aka Jimmy Ash) while filming him
front and rear aboard the treadmill. Jimmys heel strike and stance phase
looked so stable. He was really impressed with the fit and feel.
Brooks Trance VII
$134.99 11.5 oz
Brooks
has refined the upper material of the Trance to lay a little better
than previous editions along with rethinking where the flex channels should be
placed on the outsole for a better riding and more stable premium high mileage
trainer. The X-Static lined insole and collar material add to refined moisture
and fungal control. This is a great looking, durable, stable and well cushioned
shoe.
New Balance 1223
$134.99
12 oz.
This
fall, we had the opportunity to attend the NB Elite Dealers meeting in Boston
and much discussion was about the 1223 and where it is going next. Youd
be impressed by the attention to the most minor of details the design team has
on their product. A new stability feature NB refers to as DTS (Dynamic Transitional
System) is incorporated in the design to enhance stability starting at the point
of heel strike. 1223 fits and feels like a high quality product, plus it is US
made. Some of us are wear testing 1223 right now, and no complaints so far. With
its color scheme, good thing the Sox made the 2007 World Series!
New Balance 858
$99.99
11.5 oz.
NB
has made some interesting changes to the last on the new 858. Instead of keeping
the straightness of the 857, NB decided to curve the new
858 just a bit. They feel it is a more versatile platform, and so far, we agree.
The new shoe is better balanced, more responsive, better cushioned than the 857.
If you wore the 857 and felt it was too motion control like, give
the 858 a look. US made, width sizing, great true to measure fit.
